Principal's Message

Dear Marcell Parents,

As the world responds to the COVID-19 pandemic, I would like to thank everyone for their support and understanding.  In preparation for the 2020-2021 school year, rest assured that Mission CISD is taking preventative measures to begin educating our future while protecting our students, staff, parents, and faculty from harm.   Together, we will embrace the challenge, celebrate the traditions of our past, and come out of this stronger than ever before.

On Tuesday, September 8, 2020, our student(s) will begin their first day of school a little different.  We look forward to serving your family remotely through synchronous/asynchronous online classes.

What is synchronous/asynchronous online class? A synchronous class takes place online in a Google Meets classroom at a certain time of day, this allows your child to interact with their teacher and peers just like they would at school in the comfort of their home.  An asynchronous online class takes place at home and learning happens on your schedule. Our teachers will provide your child with materials through a Google classroom.  These materials will include, but are not limited to, taped lessons, interactive activities, online academic games, and more.  You and your child will have access to these materials at a time that is convenient for both you and your child.  Mission CISD has invested in providing a digital device for a child, enrolled at our district, that may be in need of a device and have installed numerous Wi-Fi Hotspots in various areas of the city that allow students internet access. Our staff will be available at specified time(s) during the week for any question(s) that may arise by either the parent or student in the morning and in the afternoon.  In addition, Mission CISD will continue to provide the Homework Hotline during the week, Monday thru Friday, from 1:00pm and 8:00pm.

I encourage you to frequently visit our campus webpage, marcell.mcisd.net, and Facebook page, Leo Marcell – MCISD, for current news and events happening at Marcell Elementary.

Thank you for your continued support and patience as we strive to do what is best for all our students, parents, staff, and faculty during these difficult times.   Stay safe and we look forward to seeing everyone’s smiling faces soon!

Please do not hesitate to contact our office at (956) 323-6400 with any additional questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

E. Zamora
