Hello! My name is Mrs. R. Cano and I am Marcell Elementary’s school counselor. I attended Waitz Elementary, K. White JR. High, and graduated from Mission High School. After receiving a full scholarship to Texas A&M University College Station, I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. I, then, worked on my Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling through the Dell Scholars Program at the University of Texas Pan American. I am a firm believer that education is a gift that no one can take away and that is at everyone’s reach if willing to pursue it. I love my career as a school counselor and I am absolutely passionate about assisting our students make good choices and motivating them to believe that they too can go to college and follow their dreams.
As the school counselor, I work with my students on topics such as personal safety, self-confidence, anger management, responsible choices, drug awareness, tolerance, bullying and harassment. These are just to name a few since there are many other areas that I provide support and guidance to our students to assist them with their academic and personal/social development. I am a very proud Marcell Eagle School Counselor and love working with my students, parents, and staff.
